January is here! Time for a new year and new books to look forward to! As always, I’m shouting out my five most anticipated January releases below. Let’s get 2014 off to a good start, shall we?

YAY DECEMBER IS HERE! December is a busy month for me–lots of birthdays and, of course, CHRISTMAS, only my favorite holiday IN THE WORLD. Thankfully, perhaps, there’s only a few books I’m dying to get my hands on this month. This is good because I still have TONS of books to read that already came out. But that doesn’t mean I’m any less stoked to read these three books!
This one sounds like a super cute contemporary that’s coming out from a new ebook imprint of Bloomsbury. There’s a militant vegan with purple hair who sounds like a tough cookie and the captain of the football team and ART things. It sounds adorable. (December 19 from Bloomsbury Spark)
If I hear one more excellent thing about this book, I might die. First of all, it sounds like a science-fictiony book version of Lost, one of my favorite TV shows. Second of all, I’m hearing that the romance–especially one Tarver Mendensen–is DELISH. Third of all, that cover is GORGEOUS! Science fiction is not always my go-to reading choice, and I’m usually really wary of dual-authored books, but it’s hard to ignore this much buzz. STOKED. (December 10 from Disney-Hyperion)
Miranda Kenneally books are pretty solid contemps, and so I’m looking forward to RACING SAVANNAH. There’s lots of yellow on the cover, so I’m immediately drawn to it, but more than that, this one just sounds fun and swoony. Plus, HORSES. I’m always a fan of those pretties! Lots of great books coming out this month, friends! For me, though, there’s one in particular that I have been SALIVATING for since last year. But no worries: The other books sound amazing, too, and I’m stoked for all of them. November is shaping up to be a pretty legit month!

We are getting into the heart of what I always think of as big book season. SO MANY highly anticipated releases always seem to come out in the fall, the same way that movies released in the fall are meant to be bigger contenders for the season’s awards. I’m pretty stoked to get my mits of these titles coming out this October!

Five Books I’m Looking Forward to This Month!
August isn’t necessarily a month that screams “LOTS OF NEW THINGS!!” friends, but there’s still some great books coming out this month that I am DYING to read. Huzzah!
Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea: Between #1 by April Genevieve Tucholke
I’m so interested in this one! The idea of having feels that might not be genuine because the DEVIL MAKES YOU FEEL THEM is both unsettling and intriguing. Also, beach town. I’m a sucker for those for sure. (August 15 from Dial)
The Lost Kingdom by Matthew J. Kirby
ICEFALL is one of my biggest middle grade loves, so when I heard that Matthew J. Kirby was coming out with a new book that’s like cowboy steampunk, I almost died. Plus, it’s about a father-son duo–not many of those in my pile. WORD. (August 27 from Scholastic)
Sleeping Beauty’s Daughters by Diane Zahler
WHOA. HOLD UP. A middle grade fairy tale about the daughters of Sleeping Beauty who must find their fairy aunt to keep one of them from falling under the same curse that put their mother in an enchanted sleep? I’M IN. (August 27 from Harper Collins)
Relic by Renee Collins
Friends, there’s SO MUCH western/cowboy/fantasy right now. HOW EXCITING IS THAT?! This book is about a world where the bones of fantastical creatures are sold for the little bits of leftover magic they have, and one girl–who works in a saloon, for crying out loud–gets wrapped up in some magic shenanigans and has to save her town. It sounds amazing. (August 27 from Entangled Teen)
The Bitter Kingdom: Girl of Fire and Thorns #3 by Rae Carson
Friends, I’m reading an ARC of this right now and so far, it’s a outstanding as books 1 and 2. Elisa is a exceptionally awesome character, and HECTOR. MY GOD. Their chemistry, especially in book 2, is absolutely off the charts. Can’t wait to see how things end! (August 27 from Greenwillow)

Five Books I’m Looking Forward to This Month!
I have to admit, friends, July is a slow month for me in terms of books that I want. Which–don’t get me wrong–I’m a little bit ok with, because let’s be honest, I need the break! But even considering this “break”, there’s seriously no way an entire month will ever pass without there being at least five books I’m dying to read coming out, and this month is no exception. Here’s what I’m tripping over this July!
The Theory of Everything by Kari Luna
Just looking at the cover of this book absolutely makes me so curious and happy. What’s with the panda? Is this book about furries? How come the girl is wearing that quirky-awesome dress? Turns out this book is about a girl obsessed with the 80s whose scientist dad goes missing. Then she starts seeing things. Hence the panda furries. I’m SO INTRIGUED. (July 11, 2013 from Philomel)
All Our Pretty Songs by Sarah McCarry
I’ve been waiting for this book, friends, because it sounds so mysterious and intense. Also, it’s a retelling of the Orpheus myth, set in 1990s Pacific Northwest, and centered around music. Plus there’s a great-sounding angle with the friendship between the two main characters, two girls named Aurora and another girl whose name we don’t know. Color me intrigued. AGAIN. Dirty Little Secret by Jennifer Echols
So, cheating a little bit because I already read this one thanks to an eGalley from the publisher and really enjoyed it, as I always do with Echols books. LOVED the Nashville aspect of it, because I LOVE that show. Review going up soon–this week, hopefully. (July 16, 2013 from MTV Books)
SYLO: The SYLO Chronicles #1 by D.J. MacHale
Don’t tease me with military stuff, friends. In fact, I’ve give you guys a list before of some of my must-read topics, and this book has TWO: military aspects and a Maine setting. I’m so curious about this weird, secretive branch of the military called SYLO that shows up in the Maine hometown of one Tucker Pierce. (July 2, 2013 from Razorbill)
Under the Empyrean Sky: The Heartland Trilogy #1 by Chuck Wendig
I have been looking forward to this books since the instant I first heard about it. First of all, Chuck Wendig is an author I’ve been meaning to read for a while now, although this is his first YA release. But second of all, there is not much about this book that sounds quite like anything else I’ve ever read: a government that only allows the people of the Heartland to grow some jacked up corn (the first line in the Amazon summary of this book is “Fear the corn”; a gang of what sounds like dissatisfied, disgruntled pirates; ILLEGAL GARDENING; rich people who live in the sky–I mean, honestly. Five Books I’m Looking Forward to This Month!
So, let’s just disregard the fact that the month of June is closer to be over than beginning because there’s so many GREAT books out this month! I can’t wait to dive into all of them, but these are the five that I’m looking forward to the most. (And yes, I’ve read some of them already. The benefit of both a road trip and putting this post off for three weeks.)
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
I actually read this book several months ago when it first came out, and I loved it. Nastya and Josh are two pretty effed up kids with lots of baggage and horrible pasts. I might have to reread it before I write my review because, of course, I took no notes months ago. Not like that’s a hardship at all. (June 4, 2013 from Atria)
Siege and Storm: The Grisha Trilogy #2 by Leigh Bardugo
I really, REALLY enjoyed book one in this series, SHADOW AND BONE, and this second installment was just as good, maybe better. The world in this series is unfolding in such an interesting, complex way and I’m loving it. I’ll be reviewing this one AND giving away some goodies soon!! (June 4, 2013 from Henry Holt)
Star Cursed: The Cahill Witch Chronicles #2 by Jessica Spotswood
The cliffhanger at the end of book one, BORN WICKED, was pretty insane. I just finished reading this one while I was on my roadtrip, and things are not getting any easier or better for the Cahill sisters. Jessica Spotswood knows how to end her books in ways that just make me CRAZY with anticipation!! (June 18, 2013 from Putnam Juvenile)
Every Day After by Laura Golden
YAY middle grade! This one sounds just charming and lovely and a little sad: historical fiction in the South where a little girl’s family is kind of falling apart and a mean girl shows up in town determined to make Lizzie Hawkins’ life even worse by taking her friends away. The Lost Sun: The United States of Asgard #1 by Tessa Graton
So, I don’t think this cover is doing this book any favors, but it’s got NORSE MYTHOLOGY in it. Like, Percy Jackson kind of Norse mythology, where the Norse gods exist in the modern world. YES FOREVER. PLUS! There’s a prophetess, a main character who fears he’ll turn into a crazy berserking warrior like his father, and a ROAD TRIP to find a missing god’s son. WORD. I always have a hard time putting together these posts, guys, because I want to tell you about ALL the books coming out each month because they all sound so great. Alas. But these books here–my most anticipated books coming out this April–are just a good sampling of the super stories that are on tap for us this month. You know what else gets me STOKED for April? LOOK AT ALL THE MIDDLE GRADE. *dies* (Also, re: the pictures–I’ve been spending too much time on Pic Monkey. Forgive me.)

My love for this series is hopefully well known by now because it’s INTENSE. IN. TENSE. I’ve read this one already and will be reviewing it as soon as I can gather my thoughts and polish them into something more than “OMFGLOVEFOREVERAHHHAMAZINGBESTEVER.” (April 2 from Houghton Mifflin Children’s)
Woo hoo!! I’m really excited to see what happens next to this crazy group of Prince Charmings and their ladies, who are all pretty badass themselves. At least the ones we know well, anyway. (April 30 from Walden Pond Press)
This book just sounds so charming and adventurous and fun. I have a soft spot for origin stories, and Rumplestiltskin is a character who intrigues me. He’s one of the darker fairy tale creatures, even when he’s sanitized and on a Xanax or two, so I’m really curious about how Liesl Shurtliff has constructed his youth. (April 9 from Alfred Knopf)
I keep talking about this book, friends, because I’m really looking forward to it. I love a good middle grade fantasy, and this one sounds like it fits the bill. Look at that all that ghostly mist on the cover! (April 9 from Delacorte)
I’m a big fan of Jennifer E. Smith’s books, so I’m really excited about this one. It sounds cute and full of feels, plus there’s a beach town in Maine. LOVE THOSE. (April 2 from Poppy)

Guys, I forgot how many INCREDIBLE books are coming out this month?! Who knew that March was such a promising month for book releases! There are so many books that I can’t wait to read coming out this month that I had to shout out more than five. Woot!
Legacy of the Clockwork Key: The Secret Order #1 by Kristin Bailey
I’m sorry, did someone say the name of this series is “The Secret Order”? I mean, honestly. It does have a definite steampunky aspect, which isn’t always my jam, but this whole secret order/dangerous invention/stable boy romance are pushing all of my good buttons. (Simon Pulse, March 5)
Let the Sky Fall: Let the Sky Fall #1 by Shannon Messenger
WORD WEATHER! I love reading about weather, and this book about elementals is totally up my alley. TOTALLY. (Simon Pulse, March 5)
Strands of Bronze and Gold: Strands of Bronze and Gold #1 by Jane Nickerson
I will forever die to read fairy tale retellings. FOREVER. The Bluebeard tale is…pretty dark, friends. What with all those DEAD BODIES being kept locked up in a room and whatnot. But this Southern Gothic retelling sounds like the bees knees. (Random House Children’s, March 12)
Poison by Bridget Zinn
LOOK AT THAT PIGGEH!! Also, debut fantasy about a girl who must poison her former BFF–and the king–in order to save her home from destruction…except her plan to assassinate the king FAILS and she has to go on the run. Sounds AWESOME. (Disney Hyperion, March 12)
Clockwork Princess: The Infernal Devices #3 by Cassandra Clare
I’m listening to book 2, CLOCKWORK PRINCE, right now and I’m really digging it (maybe this has something to do with the fact that Ed Westwick–who has THE hottest voice EVER–narrates some of it). I’m obviously not sure yet what hangs in the balance for this series’ conclusion, but I’m confident that it’s going to be insane. (Margaret K. McElderry Books, March 19)
The Art of Wishing: The Art of Wishing #1 by Lindsay Ribar
I just right now realized that this book–a debut about a young girl who meets and falls for a genie–is going to be a series. Super! Bring it, genie lovers! Also: the author is a Jersey girl. PROPS. (Dial BFYR, March 21)
Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt
Friends, SEAN GRISWOLD’S HEAD was one of the most surprising in the best way ever books I’ve read. This one, about a girl who eschews all modern technology when her boyfriend cheats on her, sounds adorable with lots of room for meaningfulness. (Bloomsbury, March 26)
