Top Ten Books on my Fall TBR
Ahh, fall. The time of cool air, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween, and awesome new books. As with every season, I’m looking forward to more than 10 books, but these are the 10 I’m most DYING to read. They all sound amazing.
I am a VERY BIG fan of Rae Carson’s The Girl of Fire and Thorns series, so to say I’m also stoked about her newest–a fantasy wild west mash-up–is an understatement. CANNOT WAIT for this one, and thankfully, I don’t really have it! It comes out today. I’m diving into this one soon, guys (like, this week), and I’m just so excited to be back in this world again with new people. Leigh Bardugo does fantasy soooo well, and the world of the Grisha is one of the best around. Plus, THIEVES. GIMME IT. Paris is one of my FAVORITE cities on the planet. It’s so…magical. I can’t describe it, but I always gravitate towards books set there, and this one by Ann Jacobus really sounds dark and lovely, and is one of the only contemps on this list. In fact, it’s the ONLY straight contemp. Whoops.
DUH I NEED THIS SO BADLY EVEN THOUGH IT’S OVER 800 PAGES LONG. I’ve only read one book by Jennifer Donnelly, but it was a good one (REVOLUTION). This historical paranormal sounds amazing, what with the mysterious murder and whole morgue angle. I’ve yet to read the prequels to A Song of Ice and Fire by GRRM. Mostly because until this October, they’ve only been published in separate edited volumes of short stories, and I just didn’t want to buy those big books for essentially just one story. BUT. Now the first three prequel novellas are being published in one volume. I’ve had it preordered for over a year. SOON. I enjoyed THE YOUNG ELITES, mostly because it set up the rest of this series to be pretty excellent. Not that the first book wasn’t good–it had SO MUCH going on, and so many feels. I’m even more excited to see where it all leads. Rick Riordan is doing Norse mythology now? I DIE. I just cannot even. Percy Jackson is everything, so I’m confident that Magnus Chase will take up his mantle well. I have not heard a single bad thing about ILLUMINAE. Not anything. I don’t normally gravitate towards hard-core sci-fi, but this one sounds so twisty and different and I can’t wait to get to it.
What’s that? Romeo & Juliet meets Children of the Corn? WUUUT! Another book that comes out today that I’m excited for. It sounds perfect for the fall: creepy and intense.
I think WINTER will be the book on like everyone’s list this week, as it should, because AHHH, WINTER! I never got to my ARC of WALK ON EARTH A STRANGER (for shame), but my preorder will be arriving very soon and I’m hoping to start it this week. BLOOD AND SALT looks spooky and creepy, which I love, and, YES, ILLUMINAE, WANT.
I’m also dying to read Magnus Chase and Illuminae! 🙂
YES to pretty much every book on your Fall TBR.. especially Winter and Six of Crows. I need Winter so bad!
I’ve been looking forward to BLOOD AND SALT too! It’s yet another perfect read leading up to Halloween, which is where my brain automatically goes when I hear fall or autumn. Awesome list this week; you’ve got some fantastic reading ahead of you. 😀
love your graphics!! Very eye-catching post! My TTT
I hope you get to all of the books on your TBR. It looks like a great list with Winter and Walk on Earth and Stranger included.
Thanks for sharing.

I read Blood and Salt a week or so ago and was really pleased with it. I can’t wait to see what else the author comes out with because I really enjoy her writing. Great list and I hope you enjoy it.
I loved SIX OF CROWS and I loved WALK ON EARTH A STRANGER! They’re both so brilliant, in very different ways, and I really think you’re going to enjoy them as much as I do, Amy! Also, I’m very excited for Winter and for Magnus Chase! I’ve had my eye on those two since I first knew of their existence. CANNOT. WAIT.
Reading These Shallow Graves right now and its soooooooo longggggggggggg HONKSHEW. Also, let’s read Blood and Salt together, I wanna start it next I think 😀 (also DUH AKotSK)
Six of Crows is awesome! Hope you love it 🙂 Illumine is on my TBR as well.
Great list!!! I am so happy I came across this blog post right before October! These seem perfect for my Halloween reading 🙂 . The Jennifer Donnelly book sounds right up my alley. You have to check out “The Lemoncholy Life of Annie Aster” by Scott Wilbanks (http://www.scottbwilbanks.com/). It is a fantastic novel that has romance, time travel, mystery, suspense and the supernatural and is quite simply a book that you will not be able to put down (perfect for a cozy couch session!) The story follows Annie and her unusual correspondence with a 19th century schoolmarm, Elsbeth Gundy, from Kansas. Annie lives in modern day San Francisco and finds this mysterious link in her backyard. Out of nowhere appears a mailbox with a letter from Elsbeth stating “Trespass is dealt with at the business end of a shotgun in these parts!” The two have to discover what is connecting these two very different worlds. I absolute adore the characters and the dialogue in this book. It is clever and witty and I really think it is enjoyable from start to finish. Hope this book makes it on a future list of yours
Thank you for sharing these recommendations. I have bookmarked this page to remember to pick up a few of those this month.
This time of year is always when I start reading ghost stories and paranormal themed books. I have discovered some great ones so far this year but one that really stood out for me was Alex Alexander’s ‘Ghost on the Lake’.
A really intriguing paranormal mystery/thriller that leaves the reader pondering some interesting questions on their own life and death. The story is so cleverly put together with unpredictable plot twists and a little bit of a sci-fi element in places.
A solid 10/10 book in it’s genre for me and one that I’m sure I’ll be returning to for a 2nd read. Something I very rarely do.
