Tripping Over October

October

We are getting into the heart of what I always think of as big book season. SO MANY highly anticipated releases always seem to come out in the fall, the same way that movies released in the fall are meant to be bigger contenders for the season’s awards. I’m pretty stoked to get my mits of these titles coming out this October!

Book cover for Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefanoPerfect Ruin: The Internment Chronicles #1 by Lauren DeStefano

I have to admit, I wasn’t a big fan of Lauren DeStefano’s Chemical Garden series. In fact, I only read the first book and then stopped. But I’m really intrigued by this idea of life on an island in the clouds, and a civilization in which there is no murder. Until we get into this book, that is. Then the murders happen. (October 1 from Simon & Schuster BFYR | Goodreads)

Book cover for The Iron Traitor by Julie KagawaThe Iron Traitor: The Iron Fey, Call of the Forgotten by Julie Kagawa

Julie Kagawa’s faery (I swear, I NEVER know how I should be spelling that word) books are pretty much the only ones I read. I wish I read more, but hers are just so good that others just don’t stack up. I was never sure if I would be able to trust Keirran, and it seems like we get to see him toe the line of betraying his family in this one. WORD. (October 29 from Harlequin Teen | Goodreads)

Book cover for Allegiant by Veronica RothAllegiant: Divergent #3 by Veronica Roth

I mean. If you’ve read books 1 and 2 in this series and you aren’t looking forward to book 3, I don’t know what’s going on. I’m also pretty intrigued by this water on the cover. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! (October 22 from Katherine Tegen Books | Goodreads)

Book cover for Just One year by Gayle FormanJust One Year: Just One Day #2 by Gayle Forman

OMG DUH I want to read this one. I’m actually reading it right now, and I’m just dying. Willem is one of those characters that you like even though you’re pretty sure something about him should make you want to strangle him. At least that’s how he is for me. Seeing him in the aftermath of his one day with Lulu is pretty great so far. (October 10 from Dutton Children’s | Goodreads)

Book cover for The House of Hades by Rick RiordanHouse of Hades: Heroes of Olympus #4 by Rick Riordan

Friends, I have been a long-time supporter of one Perseus Jackson. I’ve watched him grow up from a confident but kind of lost young boy to a teenager who must do the impossible to save the world from basically ancient Greek and Roman zombies. Of course, he does it with his gf, Annabeth–Look at them on this cover! Be safe, you guys! *worries like a mom* (October 8 from Hyperion Books | Goodreads)

Book cover for The Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann CokalThe Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal

So first of all, Scandinavian fantasy. CHECK. I’m in. But I’ve been hearing some interesting things about whether or not this book is actually appropriate for young people (!!), and that it has some pretty troubling scenes of abuse and rape (!!!!!!). I’m very much interested to see what’s going on here. Because it still sounds twisty and intense (October 8 from Candlewick | Goodreads)

  1. Oh man… I’m excited about ALLLLLL of these books!!!! Hooray!

Also, The Iron Traitor was phenomenal! Love Julie Kagawa!

  2. Yes…so curious about Kingdom of Little Wounds. I want it to be so good, but I’m also a little afraid of it. And yeah, I wasn’t at all interested in the Chemical Gardens series, but dear lord I am pumped for Perfect Ruin!

  3. There are so many great books coming out soon, yay! I cannot wait for Allegiant. Also really looking forward to Time After Time (Time Between Us #2), which comes out on October 8th, and Horde (Razorland #3), which comes out October 29th.

  4. I’m also looking forward to Allegiant and the new Percy Jackson. I didn’t realize a new Iron Fae book was being released. I had some disinterest when it comes to that series, so not sure if I’ll read this one… I do hate to leave a series unfinished though…
