Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It’s awesome. Every Tuesday, the lovely folks over at The Broke and the Bookish post a top ten list topic so that book lovers like you and me can pour over our shelves and make our own lists. You can check out all the other Top Ten Tuesday‘s on their site!

Friends, I don’t mind ANY book that Santa might bring me, so this list should be easier than it actually was to put together. I think this is because I actually bought a lot of books for myself this year, so I’m finding that I have fewer books that I’m missing/still wanting. But don’t you worry. If there’s anything I can scrape together at a moment’s notice, it’s a list of books I want to buy!
Decked With Holly by Marni Bates
Guys, have you read AWKWARD? It’s super cute. Funny, fun, sweet, and…well, awkward. But the adorable kind. DECKED WITH HOLLY is the companion novel, about a super nerd named Holly, and it’s a CHRISTMAS BOOK. Sounds adorable, and Marni Bates is hilarious.
Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby
So, I’ve actually read this book already, but the copy I have is an ARC. This is one of those books that I loved so hard that I want a real, actual copy to have forever. If you love historical fiction and VIKINGS, don’t be a ninny and pass this one up. It’s got this great tension and mystery and is basically awesome.
The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There (Fairyland #2) by Catherynne M. Valente
The first book in this series was SO ENCHANTING and imaginative, I can’t even tell you (even though I kind of just did). I can’t wait to see what’s in store for September and Saturday in this installment.
If I Lie by Corinne Jackson
You know how I love books that have military themes? Well, this one has them but indirectly: Quinn cheats on her boyfriend, Carey, who is deployed and basically gets ostracized from her town. But there’s other things going on, all secret-like. I’d be happy with this one under the tree.
From What I Remember… by Stacy Kramer
This is one of those fun-sounding contemps that I totally knew was out there but also totally missed. It’s not in my library, so I’ll have to get it somewhere else. It basically sounds kind of like a high school Hangover, which sounds hilarious to me. I get such a kick out of drunk teens being stupid. I don’t know what it is.
The Serpent’s Shadow (The Kane Chronicles #3) by Rick Riordan
Because I have 1 and 2, and can’t have incomplete series on my shelves. If I’m being honest, I like Rick Riordan’s Greek/Roman mythology series’ better, but these books are good, too.
The Name of the Star (Shades of London #1) by Maureen Johnson
I only have an e-ARC of this, and I loved it. It was creepy and smart and I really, really liked it. I still think about it, even though I read it months ago–wait! Over a YEAR ago! I can’t wait for THE MADNESS UNDERNEATH to see what’s up next.
Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters #1) by Juliet Marillier
Sigh. I need to read more Marillier. Like, badly. I’ve heard things about this book and this series that get me so excited to read it. High fantasy, magic, fairy tale retellings–all Amy things. I don’t know why I’m slacking. Santa, help a girl out please.
Eon/Eona by Alison Goodman
YOOO. These books are so good. They’ve got lots of amazing fantasy elements, not the least of which is that, even though this series is a high fantasy like DAUGHTER OF THE FOREST, they’re nothing alike. Alison Goodman’s series is Asian-based, with dragons and politics (gender and societal). I need these books on my shelf.
Dairy Queen (Dairy Queen #1) by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
Aww, guys! I love DJ Schwenk. Have you read these books? They’re great. DJ Schwenk is one of my all-time favorite characters because she’s not a person who hides things. She doesn’t have it in her to be deceptive or sneaky or anything like that. She’s frank and funny and AWESOME. I’m actually a little bummed with myself for NOT actually asking for these books for Christmas.
If you are listening, Santa, I second that: I would be happy with any books you might bring.
Hope you get some great books this year!

First, I tried to read bk 1 by Valente last year and I just couldn’t get into it….I think I will try again though because I have heard AMAAZINGG things about it. Second, I was supposed to read The Name of the Star for Book Club and totally slacked and still managed to run the whole thing by pulling things out of my bum (the beauty of having a BA in English.) Finally, YOU NEED TO READ DAUGHTER OF THE FOREST RIGHT NOW, OKAY?!? Like I am going to go home and see if I still have my second copy (I am obsessed you see) and if so you are getting it for Christmas!!
These all sound great! I hope you get all the books you want this Christmas!
My Top Ten Tuesday

I need to read Dairy Queen ASAP! Everyone loves it so much!
Ooooh I want to read Icefall so badly! I loved Kirby’s “Clockwork Three” and want to read more of his work. Great list! 🙂

Also, my reader has not been pulling your posts up lately (what is wrong w/ it?!). I’m just now seeing your new design; LOVE IT!!! So super fun and cute!
Ahh! Thanks! Santa is always good to me 🙂
As for the feed, eep! I changed feeds a little while ago. The new one is all linked up to my feed button.
I loved Awkward by Marni Bates! Totally adorable. I have read Decked With Holly. It’s adorable too, but I must say that I liked Awkward more.
I have If I Lie from the library. I’m really excited to read it. Normally it isn’t a book I would be drawn too, but I read Touched by Jackson and loved it. I definitely want to read If I Lie.
