GUYS! I am SO EXCITED for some of these books! This summer is going to be LEGIT. And I’m not just talking about the books here that come out this summer that I can’t wait for. I’ve got big, high hopes for them. I’m also talking about some of the books that are out already that I and DYING to read while I’m lazing away the days. Although, to be honest, I don’t have much time to LAZE anything anymore. But trust me: I’ll make time for these books.
Throne of Glass: Throne of Glass #1 by Sarah J. Maas. Um…August? Are you here yet? No? Are you EVEN CLOSE? Mmmm, a little bit. Which is good. Because this book–a debut fantasy that starts a new series LOOSELY based on Cinderella (just count all of the awesome things I just said there)–has been high up on my radar for a long time. I. CAN’T. WAIT. Plus, I hear that it’s just as fabulous as it sounds.
Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. Fantasy is looking to be the genre of the summer for me, guys. There are just SO MANY!! And check it: SERAPHINA–another debut fantasy that begins (as I understand it) a new series and features MOTHER-CUSSING DRAGONS–sounds legit. Also? I can’t wait to see this cover in real life. It’s a print made from an actual woodcutting. I can’t even…
Insurgent: Divergent #2 by Veronica Roth. Guys, I’m almost embarrassed that I haven’t read INSURGENT yet. Almost. I’m itching to know what happens with Tris and Four, but DANG! This book is a doorstop! I need to make some time to read this one, which I will because OBVIOUSLY. FOUR.
Bitterblue: The Graceling Realm #3 by Kristin Cashore. Sigh. I know that it’s no secret how much I love Kristin Cashore‘s books, guys. GRACELING and FIRE are two of my favorite YA fantasies ever. GRACELING was one of the first YA books I ever read and, as you can imagine, it immediately set the bar WAY HIGH. I’m worried a little about the mixed reviews I’m hearing about BITTERBLUE, but I’m still TOTALLY looking forward to reading it.
Defiance: Defiance #1 by C.J. Redwine. I wasn’t kidding before when I said this was the Fantasy Summer of Fantasy. What I FORGOT to mention was the “first book in a new series by a debut author” part. Because there’s lots of that, too. Like DEFIANCE, which sounds outstanding, guys. It just sounds so legit.
Such A Rush by Jennifer Echols. SCORE! Jennifer Echols has a new book coming out this summer, and guys? First of all, the hair on the cover bothers me. I know. Silly thing. But there it is. THANKFULLY, I don’t care too much because I’m going to DEVOUR this book. I’m an Echols fangirl 4 life.
Tiger Lily by Jody Lynn Anderson. Umm, Peter Pan retelling from the POV of Tiger Lily, who totally had a thing going on with Peter before WENDY came in and ruined it? I most surely WILL, thank you very much. (Do we think that Wendy is one of those girls who doesn’t have friends who are girls? I’m thinking maybe. First Tinkerbell, now Tiger Lily. Wendy just gets up in everyone’s business!) Guys, I LOVE Peter Pan. It was always one of my favorite stories/movies, so I really can’t wait to read this book.
Small Damages by Beth Kephart. This cover just draws me right in. It’s the oranges. I LOVE oranges. But once I get past those pretty fruits, I’m still excited for this book about a young pregnant teen who is sent to southern Spain for what sounds like a modern-day confinement/get thee to a nunnery thing. Something about me: I ADORE SPAIN. It’s lively and gorgeous there. So when I hear that this book takes place there, I’m IN IT TO WIN IT. No question.
If I Lie by Corrine Jackson. If you’ve spent a little time around the blog these last few months, you’d know how excited I am about this trend in YA dealing with the military. It’s pretty simple: it just hits all my buttons in this way I can’t describe. This book is about a girl who’s boyfriend is deployed, and she cheats on him. There’s fallout, and secrets, and it sounds FANTASTIC.
Thieftaker: Thieftaker Chronicles #1 by D.B. Jackson. #%&@!!&, guys. I AM NOT CALM ABOUT THIS BOOK. It’s set in Colonial America–COLONIAL AMERICA–and is about this man who sounds like a witch who uses his power to solve crimes. Guys, he’s wearing an effing TRICORN on the cover! I CAN’T DEAL AT ALL. It’s a historical witchy fantasy in my favorite historical time period in the whole world. I DIE. (FYI, this is not a YA book. I’m TOTALLY reading it.)
Great list! A bunch of these are on my to read too! I got to share an ARC of Tiger Lily for a blog tour and it was very, very good! I hope you enjoy it!
I keep hearing about Throne of Glass today… Also, I just read about Defiance on April’s TTT. My books-I-will-love radar is buzzing…
I had some of these on my TBR already, but THANK YOU for introducing a few more (Tiger Lily!)!
Graceling and Fire are 2 of my all-time top reads as well.I’m curious to see what you think about Bitterblue after you read it.
What a great list of books you have here! I’ve read a couple of them, and a couple others are already on my TBR list. But you’ve given me still others to add to my TBR list, so thanks for that. 🙂
Seraphina is another book that I want to read as well! I’ve heard nothing but good things about it! And Theiftaker sounds sooo cool as well. I don’t think I’ve read a fantasy series set in colonial America. Great list by the way!
Interesting list! Throne of Glass is one I also want to read at some point. Hope you get to all of them – and enjoy them all 🙂
ALL of these books are on my TBR 😀
I’ll be reading Seraphina as soon as I finish my current read ^.^
I really, really, really cannot wait to get started on Throne of Glass. It sounds absolutely fantastic!
Also, Insurgent. I must insist – read it now! It’s SO good.
The tricorn automatically gets my attention as well! Ahhhh. I need to obtain the Thief Taker by hook or by crook for summer.
And seriously, we must be reading twins because our lists were scary similar.
And! And! I am absolutely desperate to read Throne Of Glass this summer, like immediately.
Oh and do not even worry about Insurgent taking awhile to read, remember the print is big and so is the spacing and the pacing is super fast. You’ll finish it in no time.
How did I not comment on this before and tell you that SERAPHINA IS SO GOOD AND I LOVED IT!! I am literally buying it when it comes out even though I already read an ARC! Also Thieftaker looks soooo good!!
