In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren. It’s awesome. Every week, we all get a chance to tell everyone what new books we’ve gotten so that we can tell you guys and we can all drool and squee together! Huzzah for squees!
Good mix of stuff this week, guys! A little YA action, a little historical romance action. Woo Hoo!
FROM NETGALLEY
Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy #1) by Sarah Rees Brennan (September 11, 2012 from Random House BFYR). Sarah Rees Brennan’s Demon’s Lexicon series is still on my Pile of Shame–hopefully being conquered this year!–but that won’t stop me from CRAVING her new series, about a young girl who gets friendly with a voice in her head. But then all these mysterious things start happening in her town and the adjacent woods and, as they say, the ISH hits the fan.
The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland (May 10, 2012 from Speak). Guys, if I haven’t mentioned it before, let me say now that I LOVE FOOD. And I love reading books about summertime. I also love cute contemporary YA. Add all those three things together and BOOM! You get THE SUMMER MY LIFE BEGAN. It sounds like I’m going to love it. Plus, look at that cover! If that doesn’t scream, “I am a girl at the beach having FUN!” I don’t know what does.
The Vicious Deep (The Vicious Deep #1) by Zoraida Córdova (May 1, 2012 from Sourcebooks Fire). YO. I have been pining for this book for awhile now. So when I had the opportunity to get it from NetGalley, I jumped on it. Because mermaids, guys. Mean, vindictive, back-stabbing mermaids in a battle for the throne of the ocean. YES.
(CAPSLOCK THANK YOU to Random House BFYR, Penguin, and Sourcebooks Fire for this FABULOUS NetGalley haul!)
BOUGHT
A Rogue By Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels #1) by Sarah MacLean (February 28, 2012 from Avon). *SQUEEEEEE!!* I just recently read Sarah MacLean’s Love by Numbers series, and I ADORED them. This one is the first in her new series and just the fact that these books are going to be about scoundrels has me AMPED UP. Especially because I hear that A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME surpasses the already-high expectations people have for Sarah MacLean’s excellent historial romances.
FOR BLOG TOUR
Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson (March 27, 2012 from Shadow Mountain). Another historical romance, friends! And it sounds great! Pam over at Bookalicio.us is hosting this tour, and she says the heroine and the hottie are both legit. That’s all the recommendation I need, guys. My date for this tour is MARCH 30, so look for my review, a guest post from the author (hopefully!), AND A GIVEAWAY. I’m going all out!
That’s it for me this week, guys! Hope your mailboxes were FANTASTIC!!
I totally have your guest post!
Oh yay! I can’t wait to read all about Sir Philip!
Thankfully, you brought my attention to Vicious Deep! I had no idea that was available on NetGalley! Mermaids are the shizz *nods solemnly* And I just picked Unspoken as well, and I can’t help but be ten times more fascinated with the premise of this one than her Demon Lexicon series.
Have an amazing reading week!
— Asher
Unspoken sounds fabulous. I’ve spied it in a few IMM’s this week and now I’m itching to get it! The Summer my Life Began looks really cute too.
Happy reading, Amy!
The Vicious Deep looks interesting. I mean, I like backstabbing, but not so much mermaids.
Happy reading, yo.
A few others have mentioned Edenbrooke! I can’t wait to see what you think of it!
My IMM
Yay for cute contemps! Damn my self-imposed NetGalley ban. Happy reading!
Oh hey there historical romance. I’M DOWN.
YAY FOR GIVEAWAYS!
I just put in my request for Unspoken a couple of days ago, here’s hoping! Don’t worry, the Demon’s Lexicon doesn’t just inhabit your pile of shame–it’s right at home in mine as well. The cover of The Vicious Deep makes me twitch a little, but I am excited to hear about what’s inside. Also yay for historical romance! I’m excited to read your review for Edenbrooke.
Oooh! Looks like you got some great books this week! I see some I need to add to my to read list!
Thanks for sharing!
