Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Bookish People I Want to Meet

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It’s awesome. Every Tuesday, the lovely folks over at The Broke and the Bookish post a top ten list topic so that book lovers like you and me can pour over our shelves and make our own lists. You can check out all the other Top Ten Tuesday‘s on their site!

***

There are so many bookish people that I want to meet! They’re a mix of authors and fellow bloggers who I think are super cool and wonderful. HOLLA for networking and fangirling!

George R. R. Martin

Obviously, this is a shameless attempt at squeezing George for info. I need spoilers, George. I need to know about Jon Snow. And Dany. And Winterfell, and Arya, and ALL THE THINGS. Also, this would be a great opportunity for me to be a huge, embarrassing fangirl. I’d die to meet him. I’d have to resist the urge to yank on his beard.

Maggie Stiefvater

I just adore Maggie Stiefvater. I love her writing and her creativity and her stories. I’ve been reading her blog for a long while now, and I love that she’s so artistic and funny, and I totally get her affinity for living in the middle of nowhere. ALSO, baked goods. I still haven’t made those November cakes she posted the recipe for when THE SCORPIO RACES came out, but they’re on my food bucket list. I think we’d get along great.

Lisa from Lisa is Busy Nerding

Lisa is, like, the best ever. I love that we can nerd out about things that I never had anyone to geek with before: Game of Thrones, Avatar. She lives in Minnesota, which is simply too far away for my liking. She’s just so cool and funny and sweet and I’d love to see her face in person.

Kristin Cashore

So, this lady is the bees knees, yes? I’ve loved her YA fantasy novels forever, and I’ve been following her blog just as long. I love that she’s thoughtful and insightful and intelligent. I’d have to put on my smarty pants to have a chat with her, I think, but I’d still love to pick her brain and tell how important GRACELING is to the fact that I love YA so much.

Trish Doller

Because sometimes I just feel like having a beer and listening to music and hanging out on the beach, and I feel like Trish would be ACE at spending an easygoing afternoon-into-evening near the water, talking and hanging out and having a good, relaxing time.

Alexa from Alexa Loves Books

Alexa is so incredibly sweet, and was one of the very first bloggers who befriended me when I started out and she’s been so supportive and awesome. It’s pretty much ridiculous that we haven’t met already, considering that we live in the same state, but I know we’ll fix that soon enough.

Asheley from Into the Hall of Books

Every time I read one of Asheley’s comments, it makes me smile and laugh. She has such a bubbly personality online, I can’t imagine how bouncy and smily she is in real life. Plus, she’s southern, and I die for those accents, y’all.

Patrick Rothfuss

Another shameless spoiler hunt/fangirl freak-out. I’m new to the Kingkiller Chronicle, but FOR REAL, talk about someone I could hang out with in a bar and have one of those really long bar talks that follows no path except beer-induced randomness, except this one would include a good, long chat about KVOTHE, my favorite fantasy ginger. And what is it with fantasy authors and beards? I might have to give Pat’s a yank, too, just to say that I did.

I know that’s only 8 friends, but don’t think this is because I couldn’t think of 10. The opposite, really. I could think of WAY MORE than 10, and I couldn’t narrow it down! So rather than flood this list with TONS of awesome people, I’m stopping here to stem the tide. But here’s the truth: there are so many incredible bookish people that I would die to meet, and some that I’ve met only briefly and would love to spend more time with. In my dream world, I would have TONS of free time and would be able to hang out with people all the time!

  1. Hmmm, I wonder how George would react to you yanking his beard 🙂

  2. YES YES YES to Trish Doller. And Asheley. And Lisa. And Alexa. Can I just meet all these people, too? ROAD TRIP.

  6. Can we please just all meet?! I want to meet Lisa and Asheley too! And I get to meet Alexa this weekend! WEEEE!

  7. I love Maggie Stiefvater’s blog too. She is pretty funny. Although I don’t live in the middle of nowhere, I could totally see people liking it. In fact, if I could work from home, I would love to live way out in the country.

  8. My cousin absolutely loved Patrick Rothfuss. I haven’t read anything by him yet, but my cousin raves about him, so I will have to check him out. Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday!

  9. Maggie Stiefvater is AWESOME. I’ve met her twice now, and I still get awed by her. I think she’s funny and I love her writing oh-so-much! She’s going to be at Books of Wonder tomorrow, I hear…

Also, Kristin Cashore is SO COOL. I’ve heard her speak, and she sounds like an awesome person to go to for advice about writing. I wish I had the opportunity to chat with her one on one about everything.

And we MUST meet. For real! Because I think you’re awesome and I love your reviews and I feel like we would get along swimmingly. I’m sad that I technically don’t live in the same state as you anymore (I’m now living up in the Bronx), but that’s still close enough so we can meet up!

  10. Ok, Kristin Cashore is on my bucket list! I absolutely must meet her someday! I’ve met Maggie actually and will again in a couple of weeks. She’s very fun, and bizarre, and hilarious! AND a brilliant author! Patrick Rothfuss is from my area actually! Great list!

  11. I feel like Patrick Rothfuss would be an excellent story teller. Like I could just listen to him talk forever.

  12. I would pretty much just mutter nonsensical things at George RR but also be like WHY KHAL DROGO and IS JON ALIVE OR WHAT and WHY YOU BREAK MY HEART ALL THE TIME.

Also, one day I will see your face!
